Building Source Direct has taught me that people are often much better at describing a problem than specifying a solution.

“I don’t want it to look cheap.”
“I don’t want the logo too big.”
“I don’t want something that falls apart after six months.”
“I don’t want to order 100 when I only need 20.”

And honestly, that’s enough to get started.

You don’t need to know whether embroidery or print is the better option. You don’t need to know which fabric weight you need. You don’t need to know which decoration method will work best for your logo.

That’s our job.

What you do need to know is what you’re trying to achieve.

Maybe you want your team to look more professional. Maybe you’re starting a new business and need your first uniforms. Maybe you’ve outgrown the supplier you’ve been using. Maybe you simply want something that looks like your brand instead of something that came out of a catalogue.

Once we understand that, we can work backwards.

That’s where the conversations get interesting.

Because there’s rarely one obvious answer. The right garment, fabric, colour, decoration method and quantity all depend on what you’re actually trying to achieve.

And sometimes the best advice is that you don’t need what you originally thought you needed.

That’s one of the things I didn’t expect when I started Source Direct.

I thought my customers would bring me the answers. Instead, they bring me the problem.

And that’s often much more useful.
